La Coupe ... Le point de vue de Hugues Destremau
Hugues Destremau donne son point de vue sur l'Americas Cup
« La Coupe doit garder son statut de competition pour les milliardaires.
Si elle devient une competition pour tous, ce sera un championnat comme un autre.
Fini les trimarans, mat aile, cata geant pour lesquels tout devaient etre inventes.
La Coupe va re-devenir la Mecque du Match race, ou le cercling et le slam dunk en seront les arbitres. Spectaculaire pour les inities, chiant pour les autres.
La Coupe en Monotype, c'est une idee democratique qui n'a pas lieu d'etre dans la Coupe.
Cayard en fin de carriere a cette idee pour gagner sa vie au detriment de l'epreuve qu'il n'a jamais gagnee.
Il n'y a pas d'autre epreuve avec ce statut, alors concervons la!
Appelons sa course monotype la Coupe en Monotype mais l'aiguillere doit demeurer avec ses particularites voire ses absurdites.

33rd America's Cup - All lawsuits dropped
Alinghi and BMW Oracle reach agreement; all lawsuits dropped
[Source: BMW Oracle] An agreement has been reached with the previous America's Cup Trustee, Société Nautique de Genève, that all outstanding litigation in the New York courts concerning the recent 33rd match will be dropped by both sides.
This includes GGYC's Breach of Fiduciary Duty ("BFD") claim against SNG, as well as all other claims over the design and construction of yachts Alinghi 5 and USA. GGYC's yacht USA won the 33rd Match on February 14 off Valencia, Spain.
"In place of controversy, we seek consensus. Instead of continuing argument, we are pleased to have reached agreement," said GGYC Commodore Marcus Young.
GGYC's representatives have started a consultative process with regard to the venue, timing, format and type of boat for the 34th America's Cup. GGYC and the Challenger of Record, Club Nautico di Roma and its sailing team Mascalzone Latino headed by Vincenzo Onorato, are cooperating closely in this.
"Good decisions not hasty decisions – this is what the Cup community wants," added Russell Coutts, CEO of GGYC's sailing team BMW ORACLE Racing.
"Our focus is on looking ahead and making the 34th edition of the oldest trophy in international sports the best America's Cup yet."
Discussions will continue over the next six months with the details of the 34th Cup confirmed during 2010.
"We will do our best to fulfill Larry Ellison's vision of a competition which respects the Cup's unique tradition whilst moving forward with the latest technology to attract an even wider audience," commented Coutts.

• Americans Rick Merriman and Phil Trinter controlled their destiny by winning the final day to cap their first ever BACARDI Cup.
• Very little sleep and a real tactical battle were the ingredients awaiting the 19 competitors in the Solo Duo Les Sables held in Vendé over the weekend
• In Marseille, the first stage of the Mediterranean IRC Championship was held in glorious weather.
• Racing under the colours of the host Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron, Emirates Team New Zealand won the Louis Vuitton Trophy Auckland regatta on Sunday.

• Groupama 3 crossed the equator after having spent almost 42 days at sea. The giant multihull was 26 hours behind the record holder at this final marker.
• It was a matter of ‘mission accomplished’ for Patrick Morvan and his team in Marseille last weekend.
• The America’s Cup, which was won last month by the American team BMW ORACLE Racing, has been residing in its new home at the Golden Gate Yacht Club in San Francisco.
• Following an unforgettable stopover in Qingdao, the teams competing in the Clipper Race were treated to a spectacular send off for Race 7 to San Francisco.
• In breathtaking style ‘Majan’ shot across the Cape Town start line of the Indian Ocean 5 Capes Race
• The Volvo Ocean Race 2011-12 will complete its lap around the globe in Ireland’s ‘cultural heart’, where the final prizegiving will be held.

• 70 skippers from seven countries competed in the OK Worlds held last month in Wellington New Zealand.
• A premier new sailing event has been launched in Milan last week. The Nespresso Cup will be gathering exclusively the Wally Class in Italy next spring.
• In the Omega Match Racing Regatta held in Auckland, Dean Barker and Ben Ainslie emerged from a World Class fleet to contest the final.
• Alexia Barrier has left Cap Town for Rio de Janeiro for the second leg of her ecological journey "4 My Planet"
• Over 2,500 sailors enjoyed spectacular sailing conditions for the 30th Annual St Marteen Heineken Regatta.

• L’Omega Match Racing Regatta s'est tenue à Auckland. Dean Barker et Ben Ainslie sont sortis vainqueurs des éliminatoires pour se rencontre en finale.
• Alexia Barrier est repartie de Cape Town vers Rio de Janeiro terme de la deuxième étape de son périple écologique "4 My Planet"
• Plus de 2500 marins ont appréciés des conditions de navigation spectaculaire pour la 30eme St Martin Heineken Regatta.
